Maggie:
In the past, I worked in high paced environments, and I think coming into claims is a lot of that. You're sitting at that desk all day, but your mind is going. Each day is different. I think if you're somebody who enjoys that customer service and enjoys helping others, you're going to find your fit here.
Steven:
With Progressive, you don't need to be a professional at insurance, and there's definitely those leaders that will come on and teach you the technical part of it.
Daisha:
Working a claim, yeah, there's training for that. I had no idea how to write an estimate, but they sent me to training. They were continuously working with me and before I knew it, I was writing $10,000 estimates.
Brek:
Some of the best reps that I've coached had zero insurance history, and they just absolutely came in and crushed it because they wanted to do good. And every single day they showed up. I want to get better, you know, teach me, teach me how I can get better.
Daisha:
And not everyone shares the same path from being a claims generalist. Sometimes people go into the injury role, sometimes they go into the managed repair role. What is appealing to you? What suits you? You have the option to go that route.
Maggie:
And they want to help. That's the thing. I mean, leaders are constantly asking, What's your next plan after this? Where do you want to go? We have so many resources like own it that really can, like, lay that out for you if you're not sure, because sometimes you just don't know.
Daisha:
And I have a very challenging position, but it's also very rewarding and fulfilling.
Maggie:
I think that's our goal here, right? Pay these claims fairly and accurately and in a timely manner. And I think that in the end makes us feel fulfilled and what we've done throughout the day because, you know, we're making that best experience for those customers. And so we're not feeling like, “man, I work in insurance,” but “man, like man, I work in insurance and I'm helping them.”
Steven:
Once you jump into the company, it's not just about insurance. It's about the culture. It's about the teamwork. It's about the golden rule of treating everybody how you want to be treated.
Brek:
You're never going to have a boring day in claims. There's always going to be a new situation, you know, really having the opportunity to move into any direction that you want.Literally, the sky is the limit at this point.
Claims Specialist at Progressive
Our claims specialists investigate claims, determine coverage and liability, and act as the direct point of contact with attorneys while protecting our customers from legal action regarding their claim.
Investigate claims information, determine coverage and liability, answer attorney questions, and assist our customers in resolving their claims. Want to come work with Kory?
Kory:
I am an ARBI rep. That's attorney-repped bodily injury. I love to read, I love to research. And I love to kind of put the pieces of the puzzle together. You know, kind of understand something that before was not clear, so…yeah, really complicated puzzles with lots of small pieces.
Kory:
First thing coming through the door, it’s gonna start with coffee. Lots of coffee. Then I’ll go in, I’ll check my emails. You’re gonna investigate claims. That’s going to include liability, coverage investigations, thoroughly looking through it from Point A to Point B.
Kory:
You’re going to be direct point of contact with the attorney. So any time the attorney has a question, you’re going to be the person that they call. You have your point of view, the attorney may differ. They may have their point of view. The bottom line: you’re protecting our customer from any future legal action.
Kory:
The skills needed for this position are going to be someone with an inquiring mind. Someone who’s really good at time management. Someone who likes to read and find the little nuggets of information that are going to assist you in resolving the claim.
Kory:
I’m very happy with the team I that I have now. I’m happy with my leadership. You feel like you’re a part of a community. You feel like you’re a part of something bigger. When you say to people, “I work at Progressive,” it’s something you can feel proud about and everyone is open to seeing you reach your best self. There’s so many opportunities to move forward- it’s just finding the right one and the right fit that’s going to work for you.
Kory:
Every day, you’re going to get something you’ve never experienced before. It’s not a monotonous position at all. You kind of have to be prepared to expect the unexpected. Each case is different, each injury is different. Each file is different, so it’s not for everyone. But if it’s right for you, you’re going to love it.
Claims Adjuster - Auto Damage at Progressive
Claims adjusters - auto damage are out in the field every day helping our customers get back on the road as quickly as possible.
Make important decisions, negotiate, and build relationships with body shops and others while out in the field helping our customers. Want to come work with Brookeley?
Brookeley:
What makes this job different from any role in the company is that we are completely mobile. I don't have a desk, I don't have any sort of office space outside of my Progressive car.
Brookeley:
My husband and I both have the same job. We both have our Progressive cars in the driveway every morning. My car, if you will, is my home away from home. I work out of it 100 percent, so I can work wherever I’m needed.
Brookeley:
What we do is write estimates on damaged vehicles and settle total losses with customers. You have to be able to negotiate and manage a good working relationship with the body shops that you go into on a day-to-day basis. In those situations, there's always questions of: maybe damage, is it or is it not related to the accident? Should this part be repaired? Should it be replaced? And all of those decisions in writing the estimate fall one hundred percent on us, and we have to be able to make that decision and make it in a timely manner, since we have so many customers that we need to see in a day.
Brookeley:
The most common challenges that I run into daily is working with all types of different personalities, and we have to be able to meet in the middle. Ultimately everybody's goal is the same; to get the customer's car fixed and back in their driveway as quickly as possible.
Brookeley:
Progressive and especially Claims is all about customer service and helping people in the event of a natural disaster or an accident. So that's definitely the most rewarding part about my position is that I'm able to help people and help get them back on the road. Even if it's just a minor disruption to them, I want to make it as smooth as possible for them.
Brookeley:
My first impression of Progressive was how great the training department is. We have a really great Training center where they have wrecked vehicles where you go through a couple weeks of training learning how to write estimates to our safety standards. They truly do walk you through every step that you'll need to know in order to succeed at your job.
Brookeley:
I know one day I will probably go back to a regular desk job, but for right now I absolutely love being in my car all day, and the scenery changing around me. My experience has just been wonderful- I'm definitely a lifer at Progressive.
